Trine Jøranli Eskedal is The Kingdom of Norway’s Ambassador Designate to Canada. This posting will be a return to a more familiar climate for Ms. Eskedal, as her last posting was as Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, where Norway has played an important role in the peace and de-mining process. Prior to that posting, she worked in the Norwegian Parliament as Head of Section for Arctic, Nordic and European Affairs in the International Department from 2016 to 2019. Ms. Eskedal has also held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Director in the Secretariat of the Minister of European Affairs and Deputy Director in the Secretariat of the Minister of International Development. In addition to her posting in Sri Lanka, she has served in the Philippines, France, and Sudan.
Ms. Eskedal’s educational background includes a Master's degree in Political Science, History of Ideas, and French Language, Literature and Society from the University of Oslo. She is married and has two children.
