Dear Friends,

Christmas is a time of joy and appreciation of family and friends. It is also a time of reflection on the year past and planning and anticipation of the new year ahead.

As members of the Canadian Nordic Society, we have spent many happy hours together in various settings, including our regular monthly luncheons, Distinguished Speaker evenings and special occasions in our annual calendar such as the midsummer celebration and our Christmas luncheon, which we just enjoyed together. We have also had the opportunity to participate in various other special events such as a private guided tour of the Aviation Museum and film nights sponsored by the Nordic embassies.

One of the positive features of the Canadian Nordic Society is that in its mandate and membership, it is not focused on one nationality but serves as an organisation open to all the Nordic groups. All the Nordic ambassadors are honorary members.  One can be a member of a specific national club but also enjoy the company of people from other Nordic communities through membership in CNS.

In the past year we were privileged to be addressed by some very interesting and distinguished speakers both in our luncheon and evening series.

Your Council is now in the process of planning the program for the New Year. We were delighted to welcome the new Norwegian ambassador, Hanne Ulrichsen, to our Christmas luncheon and we look forward to her addressing us as our Distinguished Speaker in March. Additional speakers and other special events will be announced in the new year.

As President, I wish to express my thanks to your outstanding Council. We meet in person most months, and I am grateful to each of them for their dedication and hard work on behalf of CNS.

On behalf of Council, we thank you, our valued members, for your participation and support. We wish each and every one of you, and your families and friends, a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy 2026!

Trygve John Ringereide
