H.E. Hlynur Guðjónsson is Iceland’s New Ambassador to Canada

Iceland’s new ambassador to Canada, His Excellency Hlynur Guðjónsson, has not had to move too far for this new posting. His most recent posting was as Consul General and Trade Commissioner at the Consulate General of Iceland in New York. That office serves an important function as a trade, investment and cultural office and is responsible for collaboration with the other Nordic countries in North America. It manages the Icelandic American Chamber of Commerce and the Icelandic Canadian Chamber of Commerce as well as hosting the Icelandic Trade Commission for both the United States and Canada.

Before his diplomatic career began in 2006, he worked in corporate America, including serving as brand manager for Icelandic USA Inc., a global seafood importer, wholesaler and manufacturer.

Ambassador Guðjónsson earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Iceland and a Master’s degree in Marketing Communications from Emerson College in Boston.

We welcome Ambassador Guðjónsson as an honorary member of the Canadian Nordic Society and look forward to meeting him!
