Tribute to the late Brigadier-General (ret’d) Sheila Hellström and our shared roots in Åland

Our own Treasurer, Lennart Nylund, will give his Distinguished Speaker talk, a “Tribute to the late Brigadier-General (ret’d) Sheila Hellström and our shared roots in Åland” on Wednesday, March 17, at 7:30 PM vi Zoom. (members only)

Sheila Hellström was a proud member of the Canadian Nordic Society for many years, and the Society was certainly very proud to have her. She was the first woman in Canada serving as a Regular Force officer to be promoted to the rank of Brigadier-General. When she passed away, the Ottawa Citizen and the Ålandstidningen both contacted us for information to include in articles about her. Lennart will talk about her eventful life and their common roots in the very unique Åland Islands, an autonomous region of Finland.
