Our treasured Treasurer is stepping down

We have been so fortunate to have had Lennart Nylund as a very active member of Council for many years. He has been our very professional and meticulous treasurer since 2013. From May 2009 until May 2013, he served as our Vice-president.

Lennart is of Swedish-Finnish stock. He was born in what was then Port Arthur and is now part of Thunder Bay. His commitment to community service became evident early on, when he became a member of the Port Arthur Junior Chamber of Commerce, where he served as President at a very young age in 1960-61.

His B.A. in Sociology and Public Affairs was put to good use in his career with the Canada Housing and Mortgage Corporation (CHMC) from which he retired in Ottawa as Senior Project Manager.

As CNS treasurer, Lennart’s duties as Treasurer kept him busy year-round. But if that wasn’t enough, Lennart also maintained our membership files, looked after our mail, and was our liaison with the Army Officers’ Mess for our lunches and Speaker Events, as well as our annual Christmas luncheons. He also played an important role in organizing our Viking galas.

The ever-dapper Lennart welcomed guests to our Viking Galas and steering them in the right direction!

Lennart has stepped down from his Treasurer role for personal reasons and Councillor Bruce Miller, who has previous experience as CNS Treasurer, will take his place for the remainder of this fiscal year.

We hope Lennart knows how much we all appreciate everything he has done for the CNS! Thank you so much Lennart!
